Multimodal Unit Presentation Rubric                     

1. Purposes and Audience 

Does the project effectively translate or reconceive the original text with strong visual and audio content?  Does the project primarily rely on a medium other than text to communicate its central message?  Does the composer demonstrate a sense of audience awareness and make sufficient efforts to maintain a tone and pacing appropriate to the presentation?

2. Exploration and Argumentation

Does the project demonstrate that the student has reflected on the original text or texts?  Does the project demonstrate that the student has considered new or different ways to compose and relay ideas?  Does the project consider and/or take advantage of the rhetorical possibilities of the new medium?

3. Research

Does the project provide a sufficient amount of appropriate visuals? If music or audio narration is used are the selections appropriate to the presentation? If outside sources are used, are they integrated appropriately within the project?

4. Conventions and Mechanics

Is the project free of grammatical and mechanical errors that inhibit or interfere with the audience’s understanding?  Does the project follow conventions for documentation, formatting, and length or time requirements? Are the images of good quality? Is the music/ voice over narration audible?

5. Composing Process

Does the project demonstrate a recursive process that includes brainstorming, planning, drafting, reviewing, revising, editing, and proofreading?  Did the student submit all required parts of the project?
