As a result of successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify four student services resources
  2. Identify one learning style
  3. Discuss three different time management and study skill strategies

 

Course Purpose: This course has been designed to help you succeed. In the next sixteen weeks you will learn many proven strategies that will help you excel in your academics as well as your personal life. We will use various types of activities and assignments to engage you in the learning process. I really encourage you to make the most of this wonderful opportunity! If you do, you will dramatically change the outcome of your life-for the better!

Course Supplies:

  1. The book will be available on blackboard. You will need to pay $5 materials fee to access the materials for these course.
  2. You will need 1 binder and 1 set of dividers preferably 8-tab

Course Expectations:

 

Please make sure you are on time to class and that you attend every class session: It is very important to be on time and ready to work. Being late can be very disruptive to the class and you could miss important announcements or handouts.  It is also important that you do not miss any classes as you can miss important announcement and information.  If you have an emergency let me know.

Electronic Devices: If you have a cell phone, please have the courtesy to turn off or silence it before entering class.

Respect and Confidentiality: Respect and confidentiality are of most importance in my class. I ask that you grant me your respect, and I hope to earn it through the semester. I strictly require that you demonstrate respect for one             another. In this course, we will explore various personal and social topics and values. Students are asked to listen, disagree and contribute in a respectful manner. Confidentiality is also mandatory due to the topics shared in class.

Individual Responsibility: It is your responsibility to review course material, get answers to your questions, and make regular progress checks without reminders.

Active participation in the form of asking questions and contributions to class discussions will help you succeed in this course and in college in general. Please keep side conversations for after class. If you have something to say please or ask please speak up or raise your hand. There will be plenty of time for discussion during class on the topics that we are covering.
